Mental Health Technician (Behavioral Health Tech)

Educational Career Training Program

Program Overview

Mental Health Technicians — also known as Behavioral Health Technicians, Psychiatric Technicians, Mental Health Assistants, or Developmentally Disabilities Technicians — play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental illness, emotional disorders, or developmental disabilities.

These professionals work under the supervision of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other mental health providers in hospitals, psychiatric facilities, residential treatment centers, group homes, and community clinics. They assist with patient care, monitor behaviors, support treatment plans, ensure safety, and help patients develop coping and daily living skills.

Our Mental Health / Behavioral Health Technician Program prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and emotional resilience needed to work effectively in mental and behavioral health settings. Students learn crisis prevention, therapeutic communication, documentation, patient observation, and supportive care techniques.

Upon completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are prepared for entry‑level employment in mental health and behavioral health environments.
