Program Overview

Medication Technicians (Med Techs) play a vital role in healthcare settings by assisting licensed professionals with safe medication administration. They work in assisted living facilities, long‑term care centers, hospitals, hospice programs, and residential care environments—ensuring patients receive their medications accurately, safely, and on time. This program is designed to prepare candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to gain employment as a medication technician. The course empowers unlicensed healthcare personnel to understand medication safety. Students will study law and ethics, pharmacology, OSHA, communication skills, medical terminology etc.

A medication technician (med tech) is trained to become a certified professional, specializing in preparing and/or administering medication to patients in assisted living, pharmacies, hospice, hospitals, other healthcare settings or residential care facility under the supervision of a Physician, Pharmacist, or a Registered Nurse.

Our Medication Technician Program prepares students with the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies needed to support medication delivery under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Physician, or Pharmacist. Students learn about medication safety, basic pharmacology, documentation procedures, communication skills, and legal/ethical responsibilities.

Upon completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to sit for the National Medication Technician Certification Exam through Healthcare Professionals Competency Testing (HPCT).
